1998 Château Pichon Longueville Baron75 cs 25 m Ruby. Scented, dark fruits, some leather and a light tobacco note nose, elegant raspberries touch. Quite intense. Fresh aciditu, ripe tannins, fresh, fruity, some structure still, somewhat tannic, long. 93

1999 Château Pichon Longueville Baron
58 cs 37 m 5 cf. Highest ever vintage of Merlot at Pichon Longueville Baron. Ruby, very thin garnet rim. Dark fruits, some figs, some leather, leaner nose, evolving. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fresh, fruity, ripe if leaner, somewhat firm still but starting to mellow, long and fairly fresh finish. Give it an hour or two in decanter, will last fifteen years pluss still. 91

2000 Château Pichon Longueville Baron
70 cs 25 m 5 cf Ruby. Tight, cassis, some vanilla, youthful, some leather, mint and faint cigar note far back. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, somewhat lean body but quite intense aromas. Dark fruits, cassis and blueberries, leather and anise, firm finish. Not even close to being ready, long. 96

1996 Château Pichon Longueville Baron
80 cs 20 m Ruby. Ruby, thin garnet rim. Tobacco, dark fruits, maturing nose, somewhat scented, some musk, quite intense nose, light chocolate note. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fresh, fruity, ripe, quite juicy, structured with fruit and freshness to back it up, long. Will last at least twenty years more. 95

2001 Château Pichon Longueville Baron
70 cs 27 m 3 cf Ruby. Elegant nose, scented, some leather and cigars, lovely figs note, dark fruits, cassis, layered, opening up beautifully now. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fresh, fruity, ripe, quite intense, fairly juicy, lovely balance. Still somewhat firm structure but drinking very nicely now. 93
