IMW The Annual Claret Tasting on 2007, Right Bank

I have a passion for classic British motoring, nice number plate....

This flight was tasted open.

Saint-Emilion
Balestard La Tonelle;
Extracted, ripe and sweet. 83

Beauséjour-Bécot;
Slightly on the sweet side, could have more finesse and freshness. 85

Canon;
Nice body and texture, blueberries and white chocolate, long length. 90

Corbin;
Good, but lacks excitement. 87

Dassault;
Slightly extracted, more elegant finish. 87

Figeac;
Fresh, lively and fruit driven. 90

Grand Mayne;
Fresh but heavy fruit. 87

Haut Corbin;
Strangly sweet. 86

La Couspaude;
Lean and sweet. 84

Canon La Gaffelière;
Says only La Gaffelière on the tasting sheet, but as David Peppercorn made us all very aware of, it had been a mistake. Anyway, ripe nose, blueberry pie. 86

La Tour Figeac;
Fresh, seems that the vintage suits this estate, livelier than normal, long length. 88

Magdelaine;
Sweet nose, bland palate, gives little of interest. 84

Petit Faurie de Soutard;
Sweet fruit. 83

Trottevielle;
More texture, nicely put together, again one of the more elegant in the vintage. 88

Pomerol
Beauregard;
Fresh, elegant, lovely fruit and balance. 89

Clinet;
Ripe fruit and coffee. 87

Gazin;
More structure than most, elegant fruit. 89

Le Bon Pasteur;
Sweet and of no interest. 84

Nenin;
Fresh, elegant, minerals, chocolate, caramel finish. 89

Trotanoy;
Refreshing, towards mouthwatering, elegant, lovely fruit, long finish. 92
